Samim

Samim is a capacity-building project for civil society organizations (CSOs), funded by the Agence française de développement (AFD) and implemented by Lab’ess at both regional and national levels, in partnership with three support organizations (SOs): Ecodev in Nouakchott, the Moroccan Centre for Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship (MCISE) in Casablanca, and the Jordan Youth Innovation Forum (JYIF) in Amman. Samim benefits from technical assistance provided by PULSE.

Samim aims to achieve the targets defined under Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 11 and 12 by supporting local initiatives for sustainable cities and by encouraging responsible consumption and production.

Through training programs, individual coaching sessions, and mentoring, the project seeks to strengthen the strategic development of CSOs, improve their internal structuring, and support them in developing a sustainable economic model. A financial component will complement the capacity-building activities and the development of CSOs’ economic models. Finally, the project supports networking among CSOs and the development of the Samim community in order to multiply opportunities for exchange and collaboration at both national and regional levels.

Support

Samim promotes the strengthening of CSOs’ skills through a proven support methodology. After carrying out an organizational diagnosis of the CSO, a tailored support plan is developed. Collective training sessions and individual coaching are then planned according to the identified capacity-building needs of the CSO.

Fund

Unlike Phase 1 of Samim, the funded projects are not “development projects.” In its Phase 2, Samim provides grants to organizational projects whose objective is to finance the organizational strengthening of CSOs, their economic model, or their income-generating activities.

Raise awareness

In the face of cities that continue to expand, with growing populations while quality of life and the environment deteriorate, Samim aims to raise awareness among CSOs, their beneficiaries, as well as the general public and decision-makers about the challenges of sustainable cities and the innovative solutions that can be implemented.
